Welcome back from your holidays. We hope your holidays were fun. We've been busy following Tom as he Bikes Round the World. We also looked in on Chris and Liz who are on their own bicycle journey from New Zealand to England. We were wondering if you could tell us some things that are special to see and do in New Zealand since none of us have been there. What are some foods you eat, restaurants that are good, animals that you have there, languages you speak, anything that would help us understand life in your country. Mrs. Todd and grade 2 Roadrunners
We would love to give you some ideas about New Zealand. We eat fish 'n' chips, filled rolls, love a good BBQ, tip top ice cream and pavlova. Lots of people have their own gardens in their back yards. If the people you know come through Palmerston North in the North Island you could eat at Aberdeen ( a good steak house), Yai tai (japanses) cafe cuba on george street, The lone star. In New Zealand the kiwi,Tui, bellbird, fantail all native birds. Lots of cows and sheep as we have lots of farms. cats, dogs, rabbits, horses, deer, pigs, goats, ducks. Our 2 official languages are English and Te reo. The first indigenous people in new zealnd were the maori's. we are an outdoor country as we like to go camping, tramping, walking, cycling, skiing, going swimminmg at the beach or river and kayaking. There are lots of great places to visis with lovely scenery including, milford sound, queenstown, nelson, glaciers in franz joseph and fox we have lots of lakes, mountains and rivers. huka fall- taupo, wellington our capital city and Auckland our biggest city. Tokomaru, where our school is we have a steam museum as steam trains use to run through our village many years ago. We hope this is helpful. Mrs. R Room 2 We hope these ideas
