Friday Fun!

Today the children have enjoyed some fun learning activites.
We made the letter 'i' using the playdough and we had a go at writing numbers with chalk on the concrete!

Water Safety- Coery the Penguin visits Tokomaru School

On Friday we were visited by a water safety expert - Corey the Penguin!  Corey and his friend told us some water safety rules that we need to remember.
What were some of the things that we were told about to keep us safe in the water?

Junior Athletics Day

Checkout these photos of Room 1 and 2 at the Junior Cluster Athletics Day at Tokomaru School. An enjoyable day had by all running, jumping and throwing. Great to see so many children from Tokomaru take out 1st, 2nd and 3rd placings in some of the events. Well done!!! :)

News Day Tuesday

Yesterday some of the children shared news with the class for News Day Tuesday. Henry talked about the trophy that he won on Tokomaru School's Ag Day with his calf. Well done Henry and good luck for the Levin finals on Friday!!

Tai also shared news of his Space Ranger Helmet that he had made out of a box all my himself. Very creative Tai!

AG DAY!!

Tomorrow It's Ag Day!!

The children spent a busy morning arranging and decorating all their entries for the different categories for Ag Day. Come along to Ag day at Tokomaru School tomorrow and check out all the excellent entries and the placings.

While you are here have your face painted, eat some yummy fudge, buy some bright decorations for your tree, throw a gumboot or guess the teachers baby photos!

Print Making

Today the children enjoyed creating black and white prints for the Art Gallery on Ag day.
The prints are based on spring flowers.

Ag Day Project

On Friday the children in Room 2 made Christmas Cards as one of our Ag day projects. They were busy all morning with the two different desings making sure that they were just right. After we discussed how much we thought we should sell each card for.

Out in the sun for Athletics Day!

Tokomaru School enjoyed a fabulous afternoon in the lovely Manawatu sun for Athletics Day. Each year group took part a variety of events including high jump, long jump, discus, shot put and sprints.

Green Mufti Day

Tomorrow we are also having a Green Mufti Day to raise money for the Arohanui Hospice.
Please come dressed in your best green outfits in support of this cause.

School Athletics Day

Don't forget that tomorrow is our school Athletics Day!!

The children have enjoyed practising the different sports involved in Athletics and are looking forward to displaying their best athletic ability on the field tomorrow.

It will start straight after lunch at 1.30pm.

Today the children in Room 2 created a graph together as a part of our Statistics unit.
We looked at what activities the children did after school as our data.

Get down,Get low and Get out Fast!!

Today in Firewise the children learnt about getting down, getting low and getting out fast!
As a class we practised what to do in a fire and discussed a safe meeting place at school to meet.
At home you could discuss as a family where a safe meeting place would be at your house in case of a fire.

Here we are using the blanket as smoke so we get down as low as possible.

How Fast Can You Run?

Today for athletics training we did lots of running races against each other. We had to get ready between the flags, set ourselves up and then go when the blocks banged together. Despite the strong winds the children had a good time cheering each other on and making it across the line.
