It was a stunning day for our School Athletics this year; the sun was shining and everyone was ready to compete! A huge thanks goes to our awesome Home and School for the iceblocks after we had finished.

Christmas is coming!

Yesterday was the first day of December and the children in Room 2 get to countdown the days until Christmas with a chocolate Advent Calendar. Zavier got to have the first turn with a yummy chocolate Christmas tree. Who will be next?

A little bit of Christmas

Today the children from Room 1 & 2 visited the local church in Tokomaru along with our RE teachers. We listened as Room 1 told the story of Christmas and then we sang Away in a Manger. We were lucky to get a visit from a donkey who is part of the Christmas story.

Letters from Antarctica!

Today we received a letter each from Tai's dad in Antarctica. He did a great job of answering all of our questions along with some more photos. Have a look at our thank you video.

We made the Bugle!

The letters that we wrote to Tai's dad who is currently down in Antartica, have had a mention in   "The Bugle", a magazine that comes out for the Army families. Tai's dad has written an article about his time away and how the school blogs kept him updated about things happening at school. He has also included in the article a photo from the blog with all of us holding our letters ready to send.

What's Happening in Room 2

 Shampagne shared her lizard that she found outside over the weekend.

Tai shared with us a postcard he got from his Dad who is still down in Antarctica. We also heard from Mr Kereama that he has received our letters safe and sound. We can't wait to see what we get back!

Button Bracelets

Today we were lucky to have Miss Sinclair at Tokomaru School helping us to make our button bracelets for selling on Ag Day. It was a tricky process to thread the buttons but we had fun doing it and they look great!!

A Message in a Bottle

This week we have been reading together the big book "A Message in a Bottle'.From this the children have made their own messages in a bottle. We talked about how to make the message look weathered and what we would say in our messages. I wonder who will find them?

What's in the News at Tokomaru School

Today Tai shared with us a poster he made with the help of his family about his Dad's trip to Antarctica. He was very informative and has lots of interesting facts and photos to share and made a great job displaying all of what we needed to know on his poster. Thanks Tai!

The All Blacks take the Rugby World Cup!

Well after all the excitement of the last 6 weeks and the on the edge of our seats final, the All Blacks have taken out the Rugby World Cup! Well done to all the players from both New Zealand and France. It has been a fantastic tournament!

Japanese Numbers 1-10

Today we learnt the numbers 1-10 in Japanese. Have a look at the link below to have a go at home!

Today Room 2 had a look at the Japanese alphabet of Hiragana. We found how to translate our names into the symbols and used black paint to write them on white paper.

Making Pizza

As an end to our unit on Fractions Room 2 made some pizzas with Room 1. We then had to cut them into 6 so everyone had a piece. Each person got 1/6 of their group's pizza.

Well we thought we were getting all the snow we were going to get yesterday and then we came to school this morning and Tokomaru is covered!!
Room 2 had a great time in the snow with Room 1, building snowmen and having fun!!
