Zavier's Experiment- Magic Milk

Today Zavier brought in an interesting experiment to share with the class. If you would like to give it a go take a look at the instructions along with the photos. Thanks Mrs Lawton for the notes :)
1. Pour milk into a plate/lid

2. Put 2 drops of  3 colours of food colouring onto the edge of the plate

3. Put a chop stick in the centre. Does anything happen?

4. Now dip the chop stick into dishwashing liquid and put into the centre of the milk. What happens?

The milk has fat in it. The dishwashing liquid breaks down the fat, drawing it towards the chop stick like a magnet, and pushes the food colouring away from it.

Term 2- Maths Card Games

Today we learnt a new number activity using cards. Our focus today was number sequences e.g 2,3,4 or 7,8,9 and10 but you could use the cards to make up all kinds of maths games. One person was the dealer and the other two were the players. We are going to learn more games over the week. Have a go with your child at home :)
